Nematode and Coccidia Infections in Singing Birds Kept in Bird Stalls

Abstract Singing birds are adored by so many people in the Special Region of Yogyakarta because their beautiful voices. Even so, these have possibility to carry endoparasitic infections, namely nematode and coccidia. This study was conducted determine incidence coccidia infection singing traded bird stalls Yogyakarta. The were categorized into five feeding guilds, consisting 19 herbivores, granivores, 31 omnivores, 20 insectivores, carnivores. Thirty-seven kept colony cages (eg. 4-6 same species one cage) 57 individual used this study. Fresh faeces sampled transported ice box laboratory for parasitological examination. Whitlock method assess presence endoparasites. endoparasites analyzed descriptively. result showed that 5.32% infected 30% Based on cage systems, 10.8%, whereas those at lower level 1.8%. 35% 26%, respectively. guild categories, found herbivores (10.5%), granivores omnivores (3.2%). observed herbivorous (47.4%), omnivorous (41.9%), granivorous (15.7%), insectivorous (15%) birds. Maintenance management needs be considered prevent eradicate individually or colonies.
